For Nestlé Nigeria, the journey from a promising business idea to a sustainable enterprise begins with a simple question: what problem does it solve, and whose life does it improve?

The company brought this message to the National Youth Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Summit 2026 in Abuja, challenging young Nigerians to look beyond the excitement of having an idea and focus on creating solutions capable of meeting real needs.

Speaking at the summit on Sunday, Nestlé Nigeria’s Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability, Victoria Uwadoka, said ideas that address genuine problems and improve people’s lives are more likely to attract the investment and support needed to grow.

“Money, support, and finances flow to solutions. If you have an idea today that meets needs and that improves lives, that is an idea that is worth investing in,” Uwadoka said.

Her message placed practical problem-solving at the centre of Nestlé Nigeria’s approach to youth entrepreneurship, at a time when young people face the challenge of converting their creativity and talents into viable businesses.

For the company, empowering young entrepreneurs goes beyond encouraging them to start businesses. It also involves creating opportunities for them to acquire relevant skills, learn from experienced professionals, build networks and develop ideas that can survive beyond the initial excitement of launching a venture.

Uwadoka delivered the message at the summit, organised by the Activate Success International Foundation under the theme, “Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Courage and Impact.”

She described the gathering as an important platform for helping young Nigerians transform their ideas into opportunities and their talents into enterprises.

“Your ideas are only ideas until you bring them to life,” she said, urging participants to move from conceptualising solutions to taking practical steps towards implementing them.

Turning Ideas Into Sustainable Businesses

Nestlé Nigeria’s emphasis on solutions reflects a broader challenge facing aspiring entrepreneurs: having an idea is only the beginning. Building a business requires understanding the needs of potential customers, developing the skills to meet those needs and creating something people consider valuable enough to support.

Uwadoka linked entrepreneurship to opportunity identification and value creation, while describing innovation as the willingness to challenge conventional thinking.

She also highlighted courage as an essential quality for navigating uncertainty, noting that meaningful impact should be measured by lasting achievements rather than short-term successes.

The Nestlé executive said corporate organisations had a responsibility to help create an environment in which entrepreneurs could develop their ideas and build sustainable enterprises.

“As corporate leaders, we want to reiterate our responsibility to create enabling environments where entrepreneurship can continue to flourish, not just for this generation, but for generations to come,” she said.

She encouraged participants to embrace continuous learning, hard work and resilience, while assuring them of the importance of continued support from corporate organisations and development partners.

The message is particularly relevant in Nigeria, where young people represent a substantial proportion of the population. Uwadoka noted that people below the age of 35 account for more than 70 per cent of Nigerians, making youth development a significant consideration in the country’s economic future.

She described entrepreneurship as an important avenue for tackling unemployment, encouraging innovation and supporting sustainable economic growth.

An Eight-Year Partnership With Youth Enterprise

Nestlé Nigeria is advancing its youth empowerment efforts through an eight-year partnership with the Activate Success International Foundation, which focuses on entrepreneurship, mentorship, skills development and enterprise support.

Through the collaboration, young Nigerians have access to platforms designed to help them develop business ideas, acquire entrepreneurial skills and connect with industry leaders and potential investors.

The partnership provides a framework for translating discussions about youth empowerment into practical opportunities for aspiring business owners.

At the 2026 summit, Uwadoka commended the foundation for sustaining its youth empowerment initiatives over the past 11 years and organising the YEEP conference for the ninth consecutive year.

She also acknowledged the contributions of development partners, government institutions and private sector organisations, including Flutterwave, to initiatives promoting innovation and enterprise development among young Nigerians.

Congratulating the foundation’s founder, Mrs Love Idoko-Uloko, and other participants, Uwadoka expressed confidence in the capacity of young people to contribute to Nigeria’s progress.

She offered a prayer for the realisation of the country’s aspirations and the continued development of young talent.

Beyond Inspiration, Towards Impact

The YEEP summit brings together policymakers, business executives, innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs to explore practical responses to unemployment and economic exclusion.

Its focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, courage and impact aligns with the message Nestlé Nigeria delivered at the gathering: sustainable businesses must be built on more than ambition. They must offer solutions that people need and value.

By stressing the connection between problem-solving and investment, the company encouraged participants to consider the people their businesses are designed to serve, the challenges they intend to address and the value their ideas can create.

Ultimately, the message was not simply that young Nigerians should become entrepreneurs, but that they should build enterprises capable of making a difference.

For Nestlé Nigeria, supporting that ambition also means helping to create an environment where promising ideas can be developed, tested and transformed into sustainable businesses, with the potential to improve lives and contribute to national development.
