The Minister of State for Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office, announcing plans to establish a national movement known as “Tinubu Again 2027.”
Matawalle’s move comes as some political appointees have remained cautious about openly declaring support for the President’s re-election bid, amid concerns over public reactions in their respective regions.
However, the former Zamfara governor has taken a different approach, openly advocating for Tinubu’s return in 2027 and positioning the planned movement as a platform to mobilise support for the President ahead of the next general election.
Speaking on the initiative, Matawalle said Tinubu’s leadership experience and policy decisions had helped reposition Nigeria after years of economic challenges, describing the President’s administration as one that is rebuilding the country’s economy and strengthening its global relationships.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, adding that the “Tinubu Again 2027” platform would work towards mobilising 10 million votes in support of the President’s second-term ambition.
Matawalle said the movement would focus on highlighting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and engaging Nigerians across different parts of the country.
The 2027 election is expected to witness increased political activities as parties, supporters and interest groups begin to position themselves ahead of the polls.
