The Supreme council of Federal Capital Territory Youths know as FCT Youth Council ably led by Comrade Barnabas Yakubu in a press release made available to journalists during their brief this evening in Garki, Abuja has issued a stern warning to one Mr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (Babtee) identified as a factional Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, over a letter he wrote to them, calling FCT Youths to join in his planned protest against a former Service chief of the Federation.
Barnabas told journalists that investigation reveals an alleged issuance of 8,500 dollars to Akinteye Afeez by a yet to be identified senior Government official who wants a protest held in order to character assassinate a former Chief of Defence Intelligence.
“We will not participate in such an ungodly protest neither will we allow it to hold in any part of the Federal Capital. Babtee or what ever he is called will have FCT Youths to contend with if he tries to assemble anybody for protest in Abuja”, Barnabas angrily stated.

In light of a recent letter circulating from the Senate of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), signed by Comrade Babatunde Afeez (BABTEE), we the FCT Youth Council, firmly dissociate our council and entire members from any planned protest at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters against any former Service Chief. The allegations of misappropriated funds are unsubstantiated and there is no basis for involving the student community in this matter.
It has come to our attention that financial incentives have been offered to instigate unrest, with certain amounts exchanged to mobilize students and youths for this protest. If true, such actions are not only inappropriate but also an abuse of the trust vested in the leadership of NANS. It is not the place of the student community to serve as a tool for political vendettas, especially when there are official channels available to investigate any allegations.
Our stance is clear: we will not support any movement that risks chaos and the destruction of property within our territory, reminiscent of the unfortunate events of the End SARS protests. We call on BABTEE to return any funds received for this ill-advised scheme and focus on addressing the pressing concerns facing the student body. There are numerous critical issues affecting students that demand attention and constructive action—not distractions like this baseless protest.
In conclusion, we issue a strong warning: any attempt to stage a protest on this matter within the Federal Capital Territory will be met with firm opposition. We stand ready to counter and repel any actions that threaten peace and order as we urge the leadership of NANS to prioritize the true needs of students over frivolous and politically motivated pursuits.
