The Nigerian Youth Unions Government (Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria) has strongly criticised the 10th National Assembly for failing to implement a law mandating the real-time electronic transmission of electoral results. The Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas, was described as having neglected the interests of Nigerian citizens in this crucial aspect of electoral reform.
In a statement, Amb. (Artist) Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, President of the youth body, said the failure of the Assembly to act responsibly is “disgraceful, shameful, and pitiable” and warned that the stance of the legislators risks uniting Nigerians against what he termed “oppressors and traitors of democracy.”
The youth organisation emphasised the need for a transparent and accountable electoral process, stressing that votes of Nigerians must be transmitted electronically in real time to prevent manipulation or “wizardous mutilation.”
Amb. Samuel added that the Assembly’s recent resolutions reveal a self-serving approach that undermines public trust and accountability. He concluded the statement with a rallying call for citizens to demand meaningful reforms: “Enough is enough!”
The statement reinforces the Nigerian Youth Unions Government’s commitment to advocating for electoral integrity and the rights of citizens in shaping a democratic Nigeria.
