Two notorious motorcycle armed robbers, Adeniyi Alabi and Lekan Olawore, were finally apprehended in Ajegunle, Lagos, after a prolonged period of terrorizing the residents. For a while, the robbers seemed invincible due to their ability to escape after committing their crimes.
However, during a robbery operation on Turner Street, Amukoko, the gang was intercepted and two suspects were caught while the others managed to flee.
The suspects, armed with a homemade gun, had robbed a woman named Haliimah Ajayi of her phone before they were apprehended.
The local residents banded together and handed them over to the police, who confiscated the gun as evidence. The suspects admitted to their involvement in armed robbery during the interrogation.
They were subsequently charged with conspiracy and armed robbery, which carries a heavy prison sentence, and were remanded in custody at the Kirikiri town correctional centre in Lagos. This arrest brings some temporary relief to the residents of Ajegunle.
