Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, emphasized the importance of unity between the Ijebu and Remo divisions in the pursuit of creating a new state from the old Ijebu Province.
During a stakeholders’ meeting held at his Sagamu palace on Friday, Oba Ajayi addressed traditional rulers and prominent indigenes from both divisions, highlighting the need to put aside past differences and collaborate towards the common goal of state creation.
The meeting focused on fostering cooperation and developing strategies to achieve the shared vision of establishing a new state.
The paramount ruler said “We are all gathered here today for a common cause which is to actualize a long standing dream of a state to be created out of the old ljebu Province and hence from the present Ogun State.
“The history of ljebu and Remo is no doubt long and checkered but I have said repeatedly that we have so much in common than what separates us.
“I would like to acknowledge the contribution and the bold steps of Kabiyesi Awujale, Oba S.K. Adetona GCON in this regard. In fact, I make bold to say that we would not be where we are if not for his efforts, influence and doggedness”.
